  • How may days off work do I need after a cyst is removed from the scalp?
Depending on the size, take 2-5 days off and avoid heavy lifting and bending over. Keep the area dry for 1 week
  • I am on lots of medication. Can I continue this for the surgery ?
Show your medication to Ms Masud at the consultation and she will guide you. Generally if you are having a small biopsy or removal of a lesion you can continue all the medication. If you need a larger surgery or a graft you will be required to change the medication. This may be stopping any blood thinners such as Riveroxiban 24-48 hrs before the surgery. So make sure you inform us of all your medication.
  • I'm worried about a mole. What do I do?
If you are concerned, book a consultation in our friendly clinic and we will help put your mind at rest. If further diagnosis is needed we can do a small biopsy to confirm the diagnosis and progress if required. Or we may say everything is benign and just keep an eye on things.
  • How long does the surgery last for a biopsy?
A biopsy will take 30 mins. Most of this is waiting for the local anaesthetic to work.
  • How much is the cost of a removal of a cyst ?
This can vary between £450 and £700
  • When should I be worried about a mole?
If you have a change is size, shape and the mole is becoming darker it is worth having an assessment. If you have also spent a lot of time in the sun in the past or have members of the family who have had skin cancer is it worth checking.
  • What happens to the stitches after the surgery?
About a week after surgery you can return to us in the clinic to have your stitches' removed or go to your local GP practice nurse what very is convenient for you. You will be able to drive at this stage.
  • Where will the consultation take place?
The consultation will take place at either Cutane Clinic, Norwich or Cringleford ward, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
  • How much does plastic surgery cost?
The cost of plastic surgery varies depending on the procedure, your general health, and the location of the surgery. During your consultation with Miss Masud, you will receive a detailed cost estimate. Consultation fees range from £100 to £250. For a rough guide of prices, please refer to the link below. Note that this price list is a rough guide, and there are additional procedures available. Contact us for further details.
  • How do I know if a surgeon is a qualified plastic surgeon?
The easiest way to verify if a surgeon is a qualified plastic surgeon is to check their name on the GMC register. This will indicate their qualifications and the type of surgery they specialize in. Additionally, look for the FRCS (Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons) qualification, which further confirms their credentials.
  • Where will the surgery take place?
The surgery will take place at either the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Spire Norwich Hospital, or the Cutane Clinic, depending on your convenience and requirements.
  • How can I book a consultation with Ms Masud?
You can email pa@daliauk.com or call 07957513878. Alternatively, you can fill out the contact form on our website or use the links at the top of the page.
  • When I can buy a nice bra after a breast reduction?
The swelling can last up to a year after surgery and the healing continues with the scar changing and improving for upto 3 years after surgery. However the majority of the swelling can settle in the first 3-4 months. So you can wear nice bras after this time but be aware the breast will continually change although in small amounts after this.
  • How do I prepare for my Breast Reduction ?
Make sure 2 months before surgery you stop smoking if your are smoker, maintain a healthy diet and reduce weight two months before surgery to a healthy BMI recommended by Ms Masud. Avoid long haul flights 2 months before and after surgery.
  • What cup size should a be after a breast reduction?
This is totally dependant on you and the surgeon and what your goals are. Surgeons tend to talk about volume reduction rather than cup size. Ms Masud will have an in depth discussion about would you would like to achieve and do. This may be you wanting to avoid the infection or redness under there breast or wanting the be able to buy bras from a 'normal' shop or be able to exercise and run. It is totally individual and think about your physical goals before we settle on a volume.
  • How long do I have dressings after Breast Reduction surgery ?
This can vary from person to person and depends on whether you have a small opening or an infection. Most patients are usually dressing free at 3-4 weeks. However you may have small areas that take a little longer heal so although you will be dressing free on most of the wounds you may need a small area that needs to be covered for a few more extra days or weeks. If you have an infection around the nipple or at the T junction at bottom of the breast it can take many months before you are completely dressing free.
  • How may weeks do I take off after a breast reduction ?
I would recommend taking 2 weeks off if you have an office job returning to light duties or take a further 1 week off. For active jobs would recommend 3-4 weeks.
  • How long do I wear the post surgery Bra for for after a breast reduction ?
I would advise you wear the post surgery bra day and night for 3 weeks and then in the day only for a further 3 weeks. After this I would recommend wear the post surgery bra on and of for three months while the majority of the swelling settles
  • How long will the wounds take to heal after a breast reduction?
Ideally all the wounds should be sealed and healed at 3-4 weeks, However some patients may have small areas that take a little longer to heal. This is usually at the T junctions at the base of the breast. If you develop an area of delayed healing or infection unfortunately it can many weeks for that area to heal.
  • When can I start exercising after a breast reduction ?
I would recommend avoiding any heavy lifting for 6 weeks after surgery, but gentle walking around the bed is recommended the day after the surgery and keeping things light for the first two weeks. After this you can go on longer walks and strolls. Once all the wounds have healed and there are no dressings you can go brisk walks around 4-5 weeks. After you have seen a medical profession and everything is healed at 8 weeks you can start at the gym taking it easy and starting for 10 mins and slowing down. It will be difficult and you will feel tired as you get more active this is normal but it is important to wear a supportive Bra. At three months you can start buliding toward your pre surgery excercicse goals.
  • Can the cyst return?
Unfortunately there is also a small risk of recurrence. Surgically removing the sack of the cyst significantly reduces the risk.
  • How can I tell if there's an infection ?
If there is a period of healing and then things before more painful with spreading redness you may be starting to have an infection. Contact us via email on pa@daliauk.com or call us with a picture and we will guide you for the next step
  • How can I avoid ugly or unsightly scarring?
Provided there are no complications, once the area is healed with no raw areas which will happen around two weeks, you can gently massage in circular motions 2-3 times a day and then massage deeper after 3 weeks to help soften the scar. Continue doing this for around 6 weeks. Use a gentle moisturiser or silicon scar gel. If you start getting a raised scar contact use and we can review.
  • How long do I keep the wound covered for after removing the cyst ?
On the face and body we would advise you to keep the area covered for 7 days. We have given you spare dressings in case the dressings come loose
  • After my cyst removal how long do I wait before my sutures/ stitches are removed ?
For face 7 days, scalp and legs 2 weeks. Sometimes we may need to wait a little longer or remove a few sutures first and remove the remaining sutures a few days later. You can have these removed
  • How long do I keep the wound dry after removing a cyst ?
keep the area dry for one week. Wash around the area gently but avoid getting the dressings wet. I the dressing get get and become lose change the dressing we have given you
