Abdomen surgery 

Carrying excess abdominal tissue after weight loss or even without any weight loss can be problematic. This can also be present after childbirth.  Despite exercise and eating healthy the loose skin can still be present.  

 

Abdominoplasty 
with or without liposuction 

Carrying excess abdominal tissue after weight loss or even without any weight loss can be problematic. This can also be present after childbirth.  Despite exercise and eating healthy the loose skin can still be present.  Patients can get irritation underneath the skin folds and find it difficult to find clothing that fits.

Removing the excess tissue with or without contouring the abdominal wall can significantly help improve patients physically and psychologically. The surgical procedure may include liposuction and scar may vary in length depending on how much skin and fat is required to be removed.

Length of Procedure 

2-4 hrs depending on whether liposuction  or / and extended abdominoplasty ( removing skin and fat from the sides) is performed

Length of Hospital Stay

1-3 days 

Risks Include

Infection, bleeding, scarring , numbness, fluid accumulation (seroma),wound breakdown or wound dehiscence, loss of belly button.

Further surgical procedures may be required if significant infection or wound breakdown 

Recommended Time Off

1-3 weeks
